Your Housing Group supporting Suicide Prevention charities

2

YOUR Housing Group colleagues have nominated two suicide prevention charities as their Charities of the Year 2023/24. Warrington based Papyrus – Prevention of Young Suicide, and CALM – Campaign Against Living Miserably.

On average, 125 lives are lost to suicide in the UK every week – and with 75% of those deaths being male it is the single biggest killer of men under 45. For our young people, suicide is the largest killer of people aged 35 and under in the UK, with 200 teenagers dying each year by suicide.
Both Papyrus and CALM know that suicide is preventable with the right support, intervention and mental health services in place, and are working tirelessly to ensure that this support reaches people who need it the most.
Jacque Allen, Chief Executive of Your Housing Group, said “It is hard, even for a single minute to imagine how it must feel to have lost all hope and to no longer see a future and we must all do what we can to help those who need to continue fighting for the light. I’m incredibly proud that Team YHG colleagues care about supporting these two amazing charities in Papyrus and CALM. We know they do incredible work to help prevent suicide and save lives by providing direct support, engaging and educating communities. Suicide affects people from all communities, there are no stereotypes, just people who need people to help them. If you feel you are not quite yourself, please reach out and let those who are there to help, enable you to find the light.”
“We will be fundraising right across our business for the next 12 months to raise as much as we can for these amazing charities to support the important work they do.”

The housing provider aims to raise £5,000 over the next 12 months as a minimum. To kick start their fundraising Your Housing Group held a Bake-Off style competition at their wellbeing and collaboration space in Warrington. The winner was Elizabeth Stafford from the Finance team who came first with her incredible Raspberry Bakewell Layer Cake (pictured below). Second place went to Joe Cartledge from the Communications, Engagement and Marketing Team who made a delicious Banoffee Pie. The competition raised over £100.

  1. YHGs good pal Zara on

I find this highly insulting given they have directly caused mental health issues and actual suicide attempts. Its laughable tbh…

  2. YHG have referred me to Manchester Adult Mental Health Service, under the direction of their CEO. This was done without my knowledge or consent. This was after I started asking awkward questions. I now have a Facebook group for YHG tenants and leaseholders and I have heard many upsetting stories. My ‘so-called’ referral is about to be sent as a complaint to the Information Commission.
