Reported COVID-19 infections continue to fall as hospital death toll passes 900

WHILE the number of reported COVID-19 infection cases have continued to fall for a seventh consecutive week in Warrington , four further deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital, taking the death toll to over 900 since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 14 (27) COVID-19 cases were reported in the past week with no area recording enough cases to provide small area data.

The 14 cases week ending May 13 compared to 27 cases in the week ending May 6 While there have been four more COVID-19-related hospital deaths reported in the past week, inpatient numbers have fallen from 34-26. A total of 15 patients were discharged.

Warrington & Halton Hospitals figures 
Current inpatients as of Thursday, May 18, 2023, compared to Friday, May 12 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 26 (34) including 3 (2) in ICU.

There have been 14 (27) COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington over the past seven days taking the total to 86,194 (86,177) – 79,009 (79,001) 1st infections, 7,185 (7,176) reinfections and an infection rate of 6.7 (12.9) per 100,000 which has fallen again, compared to a rate of 14.1 (17.1) for England which has also fallen.
