Six fire crews tackle “large fire” near petrol station on Winwick Road

UPDATED: Six fire crews were called out to tackle a “large fire” near to a petrol station on Winwick Road On Monday afternoon which lengthy traffic delays in the area.

Emergency services, included police and ambulance joined fire crews at the scene near the Cheshire Stone premises, next door to the Shell petrol station.

Shortly after 16.20 fire crews from Lymm, Warrington, Penketh, Widnes, and Birchwood fire stations attended alongside a fire engine from Greater Manchester were called to a fire at a commercial premises on Winwick Road. Firefighters made good progress early on to control the fire and prevent it from spreading.

All occupants were evacuated and the fire has now been fully extinguished. An investigation is underway to determine the cause.
