Reported COVID-19 infections continue to fall but hospital inpatient numbers rise and three more deaths confirmed

WHILE reported COVID-19 infection rates have continued to fall for a fifth consecutive week, three further deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital, where inpatient numbers have risen.

A total of 31 (42) COVID-19 cases were reported in the past week with all areas in single figures.

The 31 cases week ending April 29 compared to 42 cases in the week ending April 22 While there have been three more COVID-19-related hospital deaths reported in the past week, inpatient numbers have increased from 26-37. A total of 22 patients were discharged.

Warrington & Halton Hospitals figures 
*The hospital has recommenced publishing COVID-19 status data daily Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays) following a data validation exercise.
Current inpatients as of Thursday, May 4, 2023, compared to Thursday, April 27 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 37 (26) including 1 (1) in ICU.

*Hospital deaths include residents from Warrington and Halton. The total deaths of Warrington residents can be seen below.
*The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 778 – 371.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 330.1.
*The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 773– 369.2 per 100,000.
*Data last updated Thursday, May 4 and now only updated weekly.
There have been 31 (42) COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington over the past seven days taking the total to 86,158 (86,126) – 78,997 (78,982) 1st infections, 7,161  (7,144) reinfections and an infection rate of 31 (14.8) per 100,000 which has fallen again, compared to a rate of 18.1 (19.8) for England which has also fallen.
