Chance to celebrate Coronation at free family fun day

A right royal time awaits families at Warrington Museum and Library this Sunday (May 7) as part of the Coronation weekend.

In honour of the coronation of King Charles III, Culture Warrington and LiveWire are inviting the community to a free family fun day between 11 am and 2 pm.

The event will see goody bags given away to the first 50 children through the doors and the chance to get stuck in with lots of colourful craft activities such as creating your own bunting and crowns, and taking royal selfies on the throne.

There will also be a Coronation mug trail and the opportunity for youngsters to explore a fire engine.

Meanwhile, two artists have teamed up with the Museum and Library to add to the pomp and ceremony with a themed display.
Jeni Jacques-Williams, a ceramicist who works from her pottery studio on a farm and is the founder of the Warrington Creatives Collective, will be bringing a ceramic afternoon tea which was originally produced to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
These lifelike representations of party food and a patriotic tea set and cake stand are designed to bring a smile and are literally too good to eat!

Beth Davenport, of Tutti Frutti Faux, will continue the party and food glorious food themes with Homegrown.
The self-taught baker and artist, with a background in sculpture and prop design, will be exploring the playful connections between food and art with her lively contribution to the new display.
