COVID-19 infection rates continue to fall while five further deaths reported at Warrington Hospital

WHILE the number of COVID-19 infections remain in single figures in all areas of Warrington as infection rates continue to fall for a fourth consecutive week, five further deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital.

A total of 42 (63) cases were reported in the past week with all areas in single figures. A further five COVID-19 related deaths have been reported by the hospital in the past week.

The 42 cases week ending April 22 compared to 63 cases in the week ending April 15 While there have been five more COVID-19-related hospital deaths reported in the past week, inpatient numbers have increased from 25-26.

Warrington & Halton Hospitals figures 
*The hospital has recommenced publishing COVID-19 status data daily Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays) following a data validation exercise.
Current inpatients as of Thursday, April 27, 2023, compared to Thursday, April 20 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 26 (25) including 1 (0) in ICU.

Cumulative deaths (deaths of positive inpatients) – current figure 892 (887)
*Hospital deaths include residents from Warrington and Halton. The total deaths of Warrington residents can be seen below.
*The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 778 – 371.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 330.1.
*The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 772– 368.7 per 100,000.
*Data last updated Thursday, April 27 and now only updated weekly.
There have been 63 (115) COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington over the past seven days taking the total to 86,126 (86,050) – 78,982 (78,936) 1st infections, 7144  (7,114) reinfections and an infection rate of 20.1 (30.1) per 100,000 which has fallen again, compared to a rate of 19.8 (24.5) for England which has also fallen.
