POLICE have arrested two youths for possessing an offensive weapon following an incident involving anti-social behaviour in Lymm village centre recently.

The two youths have been arrested for Possessing and Offensive Weapon and other offences following an incident that occurred in the village on Saturday 15th April.

The investigation is still ongoing and bail conditions have been put in place to prevent them from entering Lymm.

Meanwhile, Lymm Beat Team say they will not tolerate ASB or public order offences in the community and want to make it clear that they will do everything they can to crack down on this activity and ensure local residents, visitors and businesses feel safe in Lymm.

Posting on social media Lymm Police said: “These arrests send a clear message to those individuals who wish to engage in this type of activity and look to reassure local residents that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated and positive action will be taken.”

Welcoming the arrests local Cllr Graham Gowland said: “It’s good to see the police has apprehended these individuals. Residents contacted me astounded by the level of violence, with knives and extending batons apparently being used outside crowded restaurants. Violence like this a never acceptable. The village CCTV will hopefully help to ensure an appropriate conviction.”
