Use the NHS wisely – if it’s not an emergency

PEOPLE in Warrington and Halton are being reminded to use the NHS wisely over Easter – if it’s a non-emergency.

That means using an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) – like the one at the Health Care Resource Centre in Caldwell Road, Widnes, WA8 7GD.

Bridgewater Community Healthcare says the bank holiday, plus the four-days of planned industrial action by junior doctors that will follow, will increase the pressure being faced across the entire health service.

To help ease the strain locally in Warrington and Halton, a new public awareness campaign has been created to better inform residents that Widnes Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is open and available.
Local urgent treatment centres are often fast, easy and convenient.
Conditions that can be treated at a UTC include:
* Slips, trips, sprains and falls
• Back pain, indigestion and stomach upset
• Ear, nose and throat problems
• Burns, scalds, bites and stings
• Coughs, colds and sore throats
• Cuts, wounds, rashes and allergies
Widnes UTC can be found inside the Health Care Resource Centre on Caldwell Road, Widnes. The postcode is WA8 7GD and there is free parking
There is also a UTC run by Warrington and Halton Hospital (NHS) Trust at the Sir Tom Moore Centre at Halton Hospital.

  1. Well most people know about the widnes centre but not about runcorn one and I live in runcorn. Adding opening times would be a good idea though. Looking for opening times when your in pain or panicking isn’t that easy.

    • Though I would post opening times off internet
Widnes open 8am to 8 pm daily
Runcorn open 8am to 9 pm daily ( please arrive no later than 8 pm so you are seen) The centre in runcorn is behind Halton hospital in the separate building where you have an xray. This is as I said off the internet so not written in stone but I hope it helps.
