Residents’ concern over four-storey houses plan for former factory site

1

NEARBY residents have expressed concern at new proposals for housing development on the site of a former factory at Lymm.

The scheme was originally approved in outline more than two years ago but has never been progressed.
Now detailed proposals for the demolition of the former Elastomer Engineering works, off Rushgreen Road, Lymm have been submitted to Warrington planners, although the building has already been demolished.
They appear to show that the scheme involves up to nine four-storey houses, whereas the original scheme was for houses of only three storeys.

Residents have expressed concern that the increased size of the development could have road safety implications. They also claim no site notices have been displayed to inform local people of the proposals.

Lymm Parish Council also has concerns and asked that the application be “called in” for consideration by the borough council’s development management committee.
The Trans Pennine Trail Partnership has also expressed concern about possible road safety issues where the trail – which is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders – crossed by a busy road.
The factory has been standing empty for several years

  1. could BUILD these houses on the OLD ARNOLD CLARK SHOWROOM site instead on FARRELL STREET, would blend in better there and there would not be any objections either

GET THEM BUILT I SAY BUT ON FARRELL STREET INSTEAD
