WARRINGTON-based Bad Credit Car Finance providers Go Car Credit want to recognise their hard-working women and encourage the next generation of women to consider a career in the finance and automotive trade.

Today, March 8, on International Women’s Day, and in an industry historically known for its male dominance, Hayley O’Connor and Gemma Simpson speak about how the industry has changed for the better. At Go Car Credit, women play key roles across all areas of the business, from finance and underwriting to customer services and sales, and Go Car Credit proudly have a 50:50 ratio of male and female in their senior management team. Overall, 51% of staff at Go Car Credit are women.
Gemma Simpson, Digital Design and User Experience Lead said, “Although it’s becoming more and more common, it can still be rare to see women being showcased and celebrated for their successes within the car industry, even in 2023. For International Women’s Day this year, it’s important that women of all ages, from all backgrounds, are aware that they deserve their place not only within the motor industry but in any male-dominated industry. Without women, our cars wouldn’t have windscreen wipers or even heating, so going forward I’m hoping we’ll see more celebrated success for us within this industry.”
When asked about some of the challenges of working in the industry Hayley O’Connor, Marketing Manager at Go Car Credit said, “I’m lucky to work at a company in which women are truly valued. It’s a real point of honour for us to be able to say that we have an equal male and female presence in our senior management team, and I think that is reflected in our culture. I know in the past that some of the challenges women have faced such as dealing with ‘lad banter’ or sexist micro-aggressions thankfully are disappearing, and that shows in the quality and talent of the members of not only our leadership team but across every level of the business.”

Bad Credit Car Finance provider Go Car Credit has a commitment to diversity and inclusion and want to make sure that it’s an appealing place for talented women to work.
