New book throws light on Warrington’s historic past

A NEW book by Janice Hayes always throws a new light on Warrington’s past and her latest is no exception.

“Warrington Reflections” offers a fascinating collection of images by amateur and professional photographers over the last 170 years showing how the town’s landscape has changed.

Remarkable images from the dawn of photography show how Warrington has changed from a traditional, industrial Lancashire centre to a 21st century Cheshire New Town.
Janice’s 40-year career at Warrington Museum has given her a unique knowledge of the town’s transformation and in her retirement, acting as honorary heritage curator there, she continues to share that knowledge through her, always interesting, books.
The pictures in this book show the last days of the medieval market ;place right through to the newly developed Time Square.
They enable present day Warringtonians to look back on the fascinating history of their town – and will surprise even older residents.
“Warrington Reflections” has 180 photographs over 96 pages and is published by Amberley Publishing at £15.99
