Starving dogs learning to love again after being dumped by owner who couldn’t afford to feed them

TWO starving dogs dumped by their owner are learning to love again thanks to Warrington Animal Welfare.

Until recently getting emaciated pets coming into their care was thankfully a rare occurrence, however it is now becoming a more regular event.

The charity’s latest guests – 18-month-old Oscar and 9-year-old Tinkerbelle were abandoned by their owner from Widnes.

A Warrington Animal Welfare spokesperson said: “We were able to track down Oscar and little SBT Tinkerbelle’s owner who claimed he could not afford to feed them; their neighbour hadn’t seen them for so long they thought they were dead.
“This lovely, lucky pair have now been signed over to the care of WAW and have started their journey back to health and happiness. They are both a little overwhelmed at the moment but thanks to our amazing team, they are learning to love again.”
The charity will eventually be looking for foster homes.

The spokesperson added: “There is no excuse to dump or let pets suffer!
“If you are struggling to feed your pet, please contact us and we will help you. You can also check out your local Food Bank, speak to large animal rescues (some have special support schemes) and community food banks.
“We are greatly concerned about pets that we don’t know about, because at least the ones that come to WAW stand a chance, thanks to our wonderful supporters, whose support is so important as it allows us to keep helping these neglected animals, our happy endings are only possible with your support.
