Five more COVID-19 related deaths as infection rates rise again slightly

ANOTHER five COVID-19-related deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital in the past week, with infection rates rising slightly for a second week.

A total of 72 cases were reported in the past week but remain in single figures in all areas of Warrington despite the increasing trend.

The 72 cases week ending February 4 compared to 64 cases in the week ending January 28. While there have been five more COVID-19-related hospital deaths in the past week, inpatient numbers have fallen from 47-41 with 25 (18) patients discharged in the past week.

Current inpatients as of Wednesday, February 8 2023, compared to Thursday, February 2 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 41 (47) including 0 (0) in ICU.

There have been 72 (64) COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington over the past seven days taking the total to 85,103 (85,030) – 78,384  (78,341)  1st infections, 6,719 (6,689) reinfections and an infection rate of 34.4 (30.6) per 100,000 which has risen for a second week, compared to a rate of 33.76 (26.8) for England which has also risen.
