Model show offers “all the fun of the fair”

THE second Warrington Model Fair will go on show on Saturday, March 11 – and like last year’s inaugural event will offer “all the fun of the fair.”

Retired bus driver Jim Birchall had the idea for the show – and as a long-time fan of travelling fairs decided it should have a funfair theme.
So the show at Alford Hall, in Manchester Road, Warrington will feature fascinating working model fairground roundabouts.

Jim, from Longbarn, thought of the idea during lockdown and with the help of his brother-in-law, they started work on building a working model waltzer.
It cost more than £500 in materials and took about 800 hours of work.
Fairground modellers from around the country will be exhibiting and there will working model roundabouts, etc on show from 10am until 4pm.
A trophy will be offered for the “best in show” and the best at 1:24 scale.

Jim said: “It will be an interesting show for all the family – especially the children who are always fascinated by the larger models.
Admission is free.
