A new “Men Walking and Talking” mental health support group has been launched in Warrington allowing men to meet up in a non-judgemental space.

Local resident Dave Hull has launched the new group after being inspired by founder Dan Reid.

Men Walking and Talking currently run mental health walks with the aim of bringing men together in a safe space to end the stigma around men’s mental health by supporting each other. Initially started in 2021 by Dan in Telford, and having only one attendee on the first walk, it has now grown to 11 walks in Cheshire, Powys, Shropshire, Somerset, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. In 2022, Men Walking and Talking became a Community Interest Corporation.

Explaining his decision to bring the group to Warrington, Dave said: “I sought out the type of support the group provides but it was only available in Chester and Macclesfield. It was a bit too far to travel so I contacted the instigator of the whole thing, Dan Rei, to suggest I would run a group in Warrington.
“Dan agreed and I’m now trying to get the word out to as many people as I can.
“The group is designed to provide a non-judgemental space for men to open up about their mental health and get the support of others. There are currently eleven groups across the country.
“There is no charge, no commitment and men can drop in or out whenever they feel the need for support. Everyone involved gives their time for free.

Dave added: “They can come to talk if they wish or just come for companionship and moral support.”

Next Walks are the :
