A man has been arrested for an allegation that he spat in the face of a store security guard in Warrington’s Golden Square.

Officers from the Town Centre Beat Team were able to stop him on the A49 Winwick Road before he could reach the relative safety of the M62. The male was arrested and taken into custody.

Meanwhile in another incident, thanks to the tenacity of staff at Go Outdoors and the vigilance of a retired police officer, police were able to detain a male for a high-value theft of coats from the store. He was arrested and taken into custody.
