WARRINGTON-based Gulliver’s World and the University of Chester have teamed up for an exciting Art and Design project to inspire the graphic designers of the future.

The Warrington theme park resort and the university have established a special project for a group of graphic design students to explore the roles design plays in the theme park.

Students have the opportunity to propose, create and develop individual ideas for design solutions in relation to the theme park experience.
Focuses can include themes like navigation and orientation of the resort, interaction and entertainment, merchandising and promotion and hospitality.
Students will be tasked with creating a design solution for an aspect of the theme park that communicates effectively with a specified audience.
Projects will be made available to Gulliver’s World’s design staff who may provide comments and the chance to progress the work as a student placement opportunity.

Craig Clews, resort director at Gulliver’s World, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with the University of Chester on this exciting Art and Design student project.
“We recently invited the graphic design students taking part to Gulliver’s World to research and absorb the theme park resort and generate some ideas.
“Design is a crucial element of Gulliver’s World. Good design helps guests navigate and experience the theme park resort smoothly and have an unforgettable day of family fun.
“This project is an opportunity for University of Chester students to gain some real-world experience and for Gulliver’s World to get some unique insights from the graphic designers
of tomorrow. We can’t wait to see what creative solutions they come up with.”

Andrew Hooper, programme leader for graphic design at the University of Chester, said: “We’re so pleased to have the chance to work with Gulliver’s World and to explore the creative potential that working for a real yet broadly open client offers. The experience will give the students a perspective of both fantasy and reality in their working process.”
