Two more COVID-19 related deaths as hospital inpatient numbers continue to rise although infection rates fall

TWO more COVID-19-related deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital since last week and hospital inpatient numbers have risen for a second consecutive week, infection rates have fallen after last week’s rise.

Infection rates are in single figures in all areas of Warrington although hospital inpatient numbers have risen from 21-37.

The 70 cases week ending Dec 3 compared to 93 cases in the week ending November 26 , compared to 74 the previous week and 75 the week before that. While there has been two more COVID-19-related hospital death since last week, inpatient numbers have risen from 37-41  with 16 (21) patients discharged since last Thursday.

Current inpatients as of Thursday, December 8,  2022, compared to Thursday, December 1 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 41 (37) including 0 (0) in ICU.

*The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 704 – 336.2 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 307.4.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 738 – 352 per 100,000.

There have been 93 (74) COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington over the past seven days taking the total to 84,217  (84,126) – 77,833 (77,775)  1st infections, 6,384 (6,351) second and an infection rate of 33.4 (44.4) per 100,000 which has fallen after last week’s rise compared to a rate of 41.4 (35.9) for England which have risen.
