Temporary road closure for lantern parade as town hall set to be lit up as Winter Wonderland

THERE will be a temporary road closure on Sankey Street in Warrington town centre on Saturday evening as the town hall is lit up as a Winter Wonderland following a special lantern parade.

The parade from Time Square, featuring youngsters who have been making lanterns at a Culture Warrington activity (see below) will culminate at 6 pm with a 20-minute light and sound projection film at the Town Hall.
The Town Hall will become an illuminated #winterwonderland. The film will then continue on a loop until 9pm on the 26 & 27 November.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice that on the occasion of the above-mentioned event, no cart, carriage, motor car, lorry or other vehicle (excepting vehicles taking part in the event, Police, Ambulance and Fire Service vehicles and Mail Carts) and no horses or other animal be allowed to remain in or travel along or over Sankey Street between the hours of 5:00pm and 6:30pm on Saturday 26th November 2022.

Temporary Suspension of Existing Traffic Regulation Order:
The Borough of Warrington (Various Prohibitions, Restrictions, & Suspensions in Town Centre) Temporary Order 2022 in so far as it relates to:
2. To prohibit any Motor Vehicle proceeding on Winmarleigh Street from making a left hand turn at its junction with Sankey Street. Pedal Cycles will be permitted.
Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term “vehicle” and must not be ridden through the above street during the hours specified. Any person wilfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.
The restrictions will only be in place to allow for the safe passage of the parade with access under the control of the event organiser for the duration of the event.

LANTERN MAKING WORKSHOPS- FREE |10:30AM – 3PM
Culture Warrington and Community objectives will be continuing their popular lantern-making workshops at Chester University Campus (Time Square). This is a great opportunity for all the family to create a lantern together that can be used for the Town Centre Parade at 5:15pm (Available on a first come first served basis.
