VIDEO: WHILE one local Christmas lights display has sadly come to an end, it will be business as usual in Alder Crescent, Orford, this year helping raise funds for research into finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

Local couple Rachel and Carl Wood will be putting up the lights, not for just themselves, but for all their neighbours as well, creating a spectacular festive street scene, helping raise funds for a neighbour in memory of his dad.

On hearing that the Hill Top Road display at Woolston was not happening Rachel said: “I just worry that lots of children are going to miss out on the excitement and the build-up to Christmas.

“This year hopefully we will be bigger and better but they won’t be on for as long, as we only officially turning them on on the 1st of December.
“All monies raised will be going to the Warrington MS Society. Our neighbour Chris Ball is always completing sponsored events for to raise money in memory of his late father so we felt we should help Chris out this year.

“It’s my husband Carl who puts up all the lights. We buy them every year and also run all the lights to our house so nobody in the street has to pay for the electric off the lights that we put up.
“People who visit can donate on the just giving page or they can give some spare change on the night. It will be starting at 6:30 pm and there will be food available in return for a small donation. We will also we will be doing a raffle with lots of prizes to be one. The raffle will be drawn on the night. Just like last year Father Christmas will be there for all the children,” added Rachel.

Chris has been raising money throughout the year at running events for Multiple Sclerosis in memory of his father Derek. Donations can be made online via https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/christopher-ball61
