A NEW cafe and hot food takeaway business is set to open in Warrington town centre after winning planning consent from borough council planners.

The seven-day-a-week business will be located on the former Old Road car park, near Bridgefoot.

A semi-permanent building, converted from shipping containers, will house the café and toilets and there will be an outdoor seating area and parking for about 80 vehicles
Applicant Sally Gallagher, of DCDC Foods, plans to open the facility at 11am, closing at 10pm, Monday to Friday and closing at 11pm on Saturday. Monday to Friday, the business will be closed between 2pm and 5pm.

Once a public car park, Old Road car park was later used as a parking facility for Warrington bus drivers and then as a car sales site, although this closed after the pandemic.
It is surrounded by works premises and offices. Access is from Old Road.
Although close to the Mersey, the area benefits from flood defences so the risk of flooding on the site is low.
Warrington Borough Council planners have also approved the erection of signage overlooking Wilderspool Causeway.
