Voting open for the very first Warrington Music Awards 2022

THE K’s and Crawlers are amongst the big names in line for recognition at Warrington’s first local music awards ceremony in the town.

As part of celebrations supporting the local music scene for ten years, WArrington Music (WAM) is inviting passionate music fans to join nominees at a live event to celebrate the past 12 months in the grassroots music scene. The event will see 11 award winners announced on Thursday 8th December at The Brass Monkey (Cairo St).
Lee Harman, Editor of (WAM) says he was inspired to finally arrange an awards ceremony a number of years ago after seeing the quality of bands and artists coming through from the town rivaling bigger nearby cities. “We’ve seen everything from bands signing major label deals to artists getting onto the stage for the first time in the past 12 months. Despite the challenges presented by significant price rises and the slow recovery after the pandemic, there are signs that things are returning to how they were and we can’t wait to celebrate this.”
Also on the night will be live performances from the likes of Man & the Echo, The Raymonds alongside more artists to be announced. Stanleys from Wigan will also be playing, having been announced amongst the first wave of bands playing Neighbourhood Weekender, an event that’s been shortlisted for its impact in the town.

As well as ‘Event of the Year’, other categories featured include ‘music business of the year’ and recognition for often unrecognised Promoters & Photographers involved in grassroots music.
“To us, music is to be celebrated all year round and without any big local events for people to support this year, the artists and fans are missing a chance to come together and celebrate the amazing things happening in our town in 2022.”
The voting process opened on Monday 7th November and will close at midnight on Sunday 20th November, with the four finalists for each category announced ahead of the awards ceremony. Winner will be announced at the (WAM) awards ceremony on Thursday 8th December, with fan tickets available now priced at £5 in advance (14+ w/ Adult).
Voting can be done via WArringtonMusic.co.uk/WAMawards
