POPULAR Parish Priest Father John Gildea, from St Peter and St Michael on Weir Lane in Woolston, has sadly died.
Father Gildea passed away peacefully at home on 17 October 2022, in his 84th year and less than a year short of celebrating 60 years since his ordination as a Priest.
Father Gildea was Parish Priest at St Peter’s for some 20 years and during that time became a popular figure in the local community through his compassion, teachings and humour.
Despite suffering a debilitating stroke in recent years he carried on to the end with his dedication and endearing personality.
Father Gildea’s funeral will be held at St Oswald’s RC Church on Thursday 3rd November at 2 PM followed by the committal at Walton Lea Crematorium at 4 PM.
