TWICE delayed due to Covid lockdowns, the annual Warrington Local History Show eventually returned yesterday, Sunday.

Organised by volunteers from Woolston’s New Cut Heritage and Ecology Trail group, the event took place at Alford Sports Club on Manchester Road, Warrington.

Around a dozen local history societies had stands manned by experts, happy to share their knowledge of Warrington’s colourful history.

The free exhibition aims to give people a greater understanding of Warrington’s important role in the rich history of Britain’s past.

A spokesperson for the New Cut Group said: “The volunteers at local history groups spend many hours researching Warrington and the surrounding areas’ past and they particularly want to help parents generate their children’s interest in all types of history.”
