Third time is the charm for Banim with convincing Rylands win

AFTER suffering two 4-2 defeats in his first week in caretaker charge of Warrington Rylands it was third time lucky for Jody Banim as he guided his temporary charges to a convincing 3-0 win against Marske United at Gorsey Lane last night.

Smarting from their recent defeats Rylands were on the front foot from the off with Kane Drummond forcing a good save from Marske goalkeeper Ryan Catterick within a minute of the kick off.  In the opening exchanges Catterick also saved shots from new signing Harry Pratt and James Neild.
Rylands broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute.  A Marske attack broke down, the ball was played to Callum Dolan who on the half way line turned his marker to slip the ball into the path of Drummond. With Marske having committed players forward, Drummond raced away to fire past Catterick and into the roof of the net.

After the break Marske started to come more into the game but Rylands doubled their advantage in the 57th minute when a long range Jak McCourt shot takes a deflection off a defender to leave Catterick wrong footed.
For all their efforts to get back into the game, Marske’s attacks floundered on the rocks of a strong Rylands defence which restricted their visitors to shooting from distance leaving goalkeeper Sam Tickle little to do.

Catterick was the busier of the two goal keepers making a couple more good saves before being sent the wrong way in the 79th minute as Dolan converted from the penalty spot after Marske captain Adam Wheatley had brough down Drummond as he was closing on goal.
After a turbulent couple of weeks the majority of the 311 strong crowd headed home with smiles on their faces having witnessed Warrington Rylands best performance of the season, so far, as they moved into the top half of the table.
