Calling all parents of Lymm school children – Lymm Village “Future Vision” Competition

0

LAST month, Lymm Parish Council launched a summer initiative in the local schools, entitled “Lymm village ‘Future Vision’” which is now open for entry.

Any medium can be used, from photos, video, drawings, paintings, a collage, an essay, a model etc – get creative! Please include your name, key stage and school from September 2022 on your entry.
Part or parts of the village centre including the Sunken Garden, Bridgewater Canal, The Dingle and The Cross can be included.

You can choose one, many or others but they need to be realistic – socialising, play, eating and drinking, outdoor entertainment, covered areas, performance space, greenery, lighting, access for all, parking, traffic management, art and music, events, improved shopping, cleaner air, safer streets, less litter, fewer vehicles, encouraging visitors, bicycle storage, car charging, maps and signage etc.
Your new vision can be made as a group or as individuals and created during the summer holidays. Please return your entries to your school upon return from the summer break. If you are leaving your current school this summer, please hand your work into your old school. Your work will be put on display by the school.

A panel of judges comprising an architect, a public realm specialist, a business owner from the village centre and representatives from Warrington Borough Council’s Highways and Planning departments will review the entries and select a winner and 2 runners up per key stage in your school. Parents are welcome to help their children and to enter themselves in the adult category via the school.
The winning and runner up entries from all the school children and parents will go on public display in Lymm village hall for the whole community to appreciate and there will be an Awards Ceremony after which the entries can be returned. Your entries may also be featured in the press and referenced in other Parish Council materials.

Lymm Parish Council hopes to use this valuable input to help shape the future design and function of Lymm Village. Visioned by the people, for the people.
