Double success for Academy and Warrington Wolves Women

FOLLOWING on from the first team success over Toulouse, the Academy and women made it a weekend to remember for Warrington Wolves.

Warrington Wolves Women ran riot at The Halliwell Jones Stadium with a convincing 72-6 win over Barrow Raiders Ladies.

Both wingers impressed for the Wire with Georgia Sutherland grabbing five tries and Sammy Simpson scoring a hat-trick in the 13-try victory.
Wales international Fern Davies also crossed twice on her farewell appearance for the Wire.
Skipper Michelle Davis, Dani Bound and Jessica Courtman completed the scoring.
The Women’s side is looking to complete the regular season with a 100% record when they face Leigh Miners next up.


Meanwhile, the Academy made it nine straight wins with a 28-10 victory over Hull FC.
The young Wire took the lead on 14 minutes when slick hand movement across to the left edge saw Josh Lynch get over with leon Hayes converting.
On 25 minutes the visitors hit back through Zach Jebson although the conversion was unsuccessful making it 6-4.
Back came the Wire on 31 minutes when Bobby Shingler crashed over from short range as Hayes converted

On 33 minutes Warrington scored again with a great break from Adam Holroyd who sent Noah Booth in to score although Hayes was unsuccessful conversion making it 16-4 at the break.
The next score came on 64 minutes when a great pass pass from Hayes set Josh Lynch away to give the ball back to Hayes to score – Hughes converted to make it 22-4.
Then on 70 minutes Hayes went over for his second of the game on the left-hand side – Lewis Hughes converted.
On 74 minutes Kye Armstrong went over from short-range and Medworth converted for the visitors.
