Powell urges fans to get behind players for pivotal match against Toulouse

WARRINGTON Wolves’ Head Coach Daryl Powell is urging fans to get behind the players for the “pivotal” clash with Toulouse tonight, kick-off 8pm.

With kids for a quid and friends for a tenner, the club is attempting to ensure there will be a good atmosphere at the Halliwell Jones Stadium tonight, with defeat putting the club at risk of relegation for the first time in its long history.

Following last week’s defeat at Wigan, Powell, said “some rubbish was being spoken at the moment” about the team’s performances, with the coach saying his side had put in a good performance and the 32-6 scoreline not being reflective of the game.
Powell took to the club’s website to make his appeal to fans to get behind the players for tonight’s game.
“The fans have a massive part to play and it is important for them to get behind the boys,” he said.
“We absolutely need the fans 100 percent.”
He said the players had been working really hard and while not everyone might agree “right here, right now, this is a pivotal game for us.”
When asked last week if the club was in a relegation battle Powell, said the team just needed to win one game – referring to the clash with Toulouse, who are four points behind the Wire with just five games left.
Defeat for the French newcomers at the Haliwell Jones, would leave them six points adrift with just four games to go, meaning they would have to win all their remaining games and Warrington to lose all theirs, which would be highly unlikely. But a win for the French would cut the gap to just two points!

Commenting on tonight’s game Powell added: The fans always play an important part and we need the vibe right behind us for the full 80 minutes which can make a big difference.
“They really need to make the stadium feel like it is buzzing.
The game kicks off at 8pm tonight and is live on Sky Sports.
