RUGBY League World Cup (RLWC) hosted its first-ever Community Club Roadshow at the Halliwell Jones Stadium this week.

The Community Club Roadshow was hosted by RLWC in conjunction with the Rugby Football League (RFL) on Wednesday 27 July.

The roadshow gave local community and sports groups a chance to find out more about the upcoming tournament, Warrington’s role in it and how groups and clubs can get involved.

Community rugby league clubs are a key audience for the RLWC, but all local community, sports and activity groups were encouraged to come along and see how they may be able to link in with the tournament and be part of the excitement at tournament time.
The roadshow also gave clubs the opportunity hear more about ticket offers, receive exclusive RLWC gifts, and hear from ambassadors and players.
The event at the Halliwell Jones Stadium was well attended by local community clubs and 300 people watched online as the event was streamed Live via Our League app.

Cllr Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and community, said: “The Rugby League World Cup 2021 will be one of the biggest, best and most inclusive tournaments ever held, and an important part of RLWC is encouraging our communities to get involved.
It was fantastic to see so many people turn up to the roadshow, and the event was a great way to keep the momentum going as we head towards the tournament. It’s also a great opportunity for us to create a network of community voices and advocates for the tournament, encouraging local clubs to get involved and spread the word about the valuable part Warrington will play in this year’s tournament.”
RLWC2021 is set be a trailblazing tournament with the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions being staged together for the first time with every second of every one of the 61 matches being broadcast live across BBC platforms.
The tournament will be a truly global celebration of rugby league with teams flying in from all corners of the globe to fight for the opportunity to get their hands on one of the three famous trophies, with the women’s competition hosting teams from four different continents for the first time in history.
