SHORTLY after vacating playing fields at Dallam, traveller encampments set up at Statham Lodge Hotel at Lymm and Orford Park Jubilee Hub.
Three caravans arrived at the car park at Statham Lodge near Lymm yesterday evening shortly after 6pm, while 12 caravans and associated vehicles arrived at Orford Park.
Earlier in the day, 16 caravans left the Longshaw Street playing fields at Dallam after being served a police notice. There are now four unauthorised traveller encampments in Warrington.
Commenting on the encampment at Statham Lodge local Cllr Kath Buckley said: “I understand three caravans turned up on the hotel car park yesterday evening and they are refusing to move.
“These problems have been going on for years now and will not be resolved until Warrington Borough Council sort out a permanent transit site in the borough.
“I have been pushing for a working party to move this forward but have still not got anywhere.”
Warrington Borough Council says it is continuing to work with partners to find a suitable location for a transit site.
*The travellers have since vacated Statham Lodge and Orford Hub fields but some remain on an overflow car park.
