DRAGON Boat racers took to the River Mersey helping raise thousands of pounds for St Rocco’s Hospice.

Mayor of Warrington Cllr Jean Flaherty was on hand to congratulate the winners – ‘Biking Rowers,’ a group of cyclists from Orford who do a charity bicycle ride each year for St Rocco’s.

Those taking part in the event raise funds for St Rocco’s through sponsorship. Crowds made up of family and friends cheered the racers on from the banks of the Mersey at Kingsway.

The event, a popular fund-raiser in the charity’s calendar, proves to be a colourful spectacle as seen in the photographs below.
