Wheelie bin fires spread to wooded area

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a fire involving two wheelie bins in a wooded area at Old Hall yesterday afternoon.

At 16:40 one crew from Warrington was called out to Bewsey Farm Close, Warrington, where wheelie bins on fire in a wooded area were extinguished with a hose reel.

The fire spread to approximately 200 square metres of ground and crews used beaters and water to fight the fire.

In another incident at 22:35 one crew from Birchwood was Collins Green Lane, Warrington, where a hose reel was used to extinguish a fire in the open, measuring approximately five metres by five metres.
