One more death as hospital A&E “exceptionally busy” and COVID-19 inpatient numbers continue to rise

ONE more COVID-19 death has sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital, where A&E is reported to be “exceptionally busy” and inpatient numbers continue to rise with a total of 75 COVID patients in hospital.

As of 5pm today Warrington Hospital Emergency Department was reporting waits of Over 4 hours, with 52 people waiting to be seen and 125 in the department.

The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care has increased to 2, while no patients have been discharged over the weekend.

The latest local data comes as national reporting data on infection rates became weekly from last Friday.

Current inpatients as of Monday, July 4 , 2022 compared to Friday, July (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 75 (70) including 2 (0) in ICU.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 649 – 309.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 277.2
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 696 – 332.4 per 100,000.

There have been 502 (487) COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington over the past seven days taking the total to 79,269 – 74,329 1st infections, 4,940 second (79,181) and an infection rate of  239.7 (232.6) per 100,000 which has risen again compared to a rate of 205.7 (199.3) for England.
