A collision and oil spill on the M6 caused a six-mile tailback and traffic congestion across Warrington this afternoon.

The incident occurred between junctions 21 A57 Manchester Road, Woolston, and 21A M62, Junction 10, Croft interchange on the northbound carriageway of the motorway..

Traffic backed up to junction 20 at the Lymm Interchange, creating a six-mile tailback

While two of four lanes were closed, all lanes have since re-opened.
