WITH more than 2,000 people from Hong Kong estimated to be now living in Warrington a special free information event is taking place at the Gateway this Thursday, June 30.

The UK offered a new life to those who were born before Britain handed back control of Hong Kong to China in 1997, opening its borders to three million Hong Kongers and their dependents – potentially five million people – following China’s democracy crackdown.

People who have recently moved to Warrington from Hong Kong are now being invited to an event providing information about employment, health, leisure and more. Based on school admissions it is estimated that more than 2,000 people from Hong Kong are now living in Warrington.

Organised by Warrington Borough Council, the Cheshire, Halton & Warrington Racial Equality Council and Hong Kongers in Britain, the event takes place on Thursday 30 June from 10am to 1pm, at The Gateway, 85 Sankey Street, Warrington WA1 1SR.

The event is for people who are looking to find out more about which career path to take, current apprenticeships and employment opportunities that are available, more information on work experience and volunteering and how to access local services.

You can register or just drop in at any time between 10am and 1pm.

Come along to find out more about:
· Finding work
·Learning English
·Accessing health services
·Leisure activities
