Police seek witnesses after serious assault near town centre


POLICE are seeking witnesses after a 25-year-old man was taken to hospital following a serious assault incident near the town centre during the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 32-year-old local man arrested on suspicion of assault has since been released under investigation.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating an assault that occurred in the Barbauld Street area of Warrington in the early hours of June 26.

“One male was taken to hospital and is receiving medical treatment.”
