AFTER an absence of three years due to the pandemic Grappenhall Walking Day returned, as hundreds of local villagers took to the streets for a Walk of Witness.

The event marked the Platinum Jubilee and included a Summer Fair.

Walking Day is the biggest community event of the year and is organised by St Wilfrid’s Church and St Wilfrid’s Primary School.

Church members, school children, all the uniformed organisations, and any one else who wants to take part walk from school, around Grappenhall and back to the school field where they have their Summer Fair.

There was a short service on the school field with an emphasis on the importance of community and working together.  Walkers were accompanied by bands helping create a real atmosphere of celebration.
