Smart Scrimpers seek help for clothes swap SWISHING event

THE Smart Scrimpers group based at St Ann’s Church in Orford, Warrington, is on the lookout for people to help out at their clothes swap SWISHING event in August.

They would love to hear from a face painter, candy floss stall, ice cream van and raffle prizes for the event taking place on August 13 from 11.30 am to 3 pm.

Swishing is a great way to update or change your wardrobe. Simply bring along five or more items of any clothing, shoes, handbags or jewellery that you no longer use and in exchange you take away five items you like. All items must be clean and pressed and in good condition.

The last two SWISHING events were really well attended and enjoyed by many members of the local community and organisers hope to create an even more fabulous event.

There will be a picnic area, free raffle draw, craft and bric-a-brac stalls, children’s outdoor games, and a marquee cafe.

In these challenging times and in a deprived area of town, they are looking to make this a truly special, budget-friendly event for families to enjoy during the summer holidays.

They are also seeking the help of local small businesses, the college and members of the local community who would like to contribute their time and services for free or at a reduced charge.

Anyone who can help out should email Clare Jenks [email protected]

The Smart Scrimpers was one of the first organisations to benefit from a Warrington Worldwide Legacy project grant.
