THE team at Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Warrington, along with their colleagues in Manchester and Bolton, have made a £3,000 donation to a hospice providing care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses.

St Ann’s Hospice supports patients from across Greater Manchester and parts of Cheshire at its sites in Heald Green and Little Hulton, as well as via a range of community and outreach services.

The Amazon teams made the donation in support of Manchester’s Midnight Walk, a fundraising event in aid of St Ann’s Hospice. The charity walk challenges participants to a 10km walk through Manchester’s streets at midnight, with virtual enrolment available for those who are unable to make it to the city.

30 employees from the Amazon fulfilment centres in Warrington, Manchester and Bolton participated in the event.

James Pitt, Site Leader at Amazon in Warrington, said: “The hospice provides vital services in our community, and we wanted to lend a helping hand to the great support provided to patients and families from Warrington with this donation.”

Phil Mercer, who works at Amazon Warrington as RME Manager and got involved with the event, added: “St Ann’s Hospice is a great charity and it’s brilliant to see the staff and volunteers receive this donation. I really enjoyed taking part in the Midnight Walk alongside my colleagues and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event.”

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive at St Ann’s Hospice, added: “On behalf of everyone at St Ann’s Hospice, I’d like thank James, Ian and John, and the teams at Amazon in Warrington, Manchester and Bolton for this donation. The kind support of the community keeps our doors open, and every donation makes a real difference to our patients and those closest to them.”

The donation to St Ann’s Hospice was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than five million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
