POLICE have arrested five people at Orford as part of an ongoing investigation into the organised supply of illegal drugs in the Warrington area.

At around 12pm on Thursday 19 May officers from Warrington CID conducted a warrant at an address on Bruce Avenue, Orford.

Three men (aged 21,22 and 50) and two women (aged 17 and 42) were arrested at the address on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine).

The two women and the 50-year-old man have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

During the raid officers recovered a large quantity of class A drugs, along with a number of mobile phones, knives and a quantity of cash.

Following the warrant Detective Sergeant Tom Hall, of Northern Proactive CID, said: “This warrant is the culmination of an ongoing investigation into the supply of illegal drugs in the Warrington area and I would like to thank the local community for the help and support that they have provided.

“Drugs have a hugely detrimental impact on our communities, causing widespread misery. As such, cutting off supplies of illegal drugs and removing dealers from our streets is of paramount importance.

“As part of our efforts to bring those responsible to justice, we need continued support from our communities and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about illegal drug activity or any other criminal activity taking place in their communities to contact us on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
