Police asked to investigate as fire crews tackle two more suspected arson incidents

1

FIREFIGHTERS were called out twice yesterday to tackle suspected arson incidents, involving a mattress in a disused building at Penketh and a bin in a park at Orford.

Shortly before 7.30 pm last night one crew from Penketh was called to reports of a fire in a disused building on South Lane, Penketh, Warrington

Deliberate ignition is suspected to be the cause of the fire. Firefighters informed police of the nature of the fire and used a hose reel jet to put it out. A thermal imaging camera was then used to monitor the temperature and check there was no heat spread.

Earlier shortly after 5 pm one crew from Warrington was called to reports of a bin fire in a park off Brathay Close, Orford.

Again deliberate ignition is suspected as the cause. The crew put out the fire and asked for police to attend due to potential arson.
