WITH more than 4,000 votes pouring in for Warrington charities to feature on the town’s brand new official MONOPOLY board – the first charity and indeed organisation to ‘Pass GO’ is St Rocco’s Hospice!

St. Rocco’s Hospice topped a public vote for three Warrington charities to feature in the game on the board’s three Community Chest spaces. The hospice’s mission is to support terminally ill people and their families and they have been doing this since being set up in 1985.

“We’re thrilled to have made it onto the board,” says Russ Fry, Marketing & Communications Manager at St. Rocco’s Hospice.

“We are also very excited at this opportunity to raise more awareness for our charity. A very big thank you to everyone who nominated us.

“Since 1985 we have been working to ensure everyone in our community diagnosed with a life-limiting disease can live well, and towards the end of their life have a dignified death in a place of their choice. We care for the whole person and those who matter to them.”

The new board will see EVERY one of the multi-coloured famous property sites like Mayfair and Park Lane handed over to Warrington landmarks. The Golden Gates, Walton Hall & Gardens, The Transporter Bridge and the rugby club are all being hotly tipped to land on leading squares.

Jennifer Lau, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK – who are producing the board under licensing from Hasbro – said “A huge congratulations to St. Rocco’s, who topped our charity poll.

“Three Warrington charities are each getting to feature on the board’s three Community Chest locations. The response from the public was overwhelming and thank you to everyone who sent in nominations.

“There were more than 4,000 votes specifically for charities. And about the same number of suggestions generally for landmarks in the town.

“The game is being released in October in time for this Christmas. The other charities featuring on the board will be revealed then.”

In March this year, it was announced that Warrington is getting its very own official version of the world’s most popular board game. The announcement was made at The Golden Gates and at the time the public was invited to send in general nominations and suggestions for landmarks and organisations to feature in the game. Later a separate specific poll for charities took place.

In all 30+ town landmarks and favourites will be showcased in the game. Over the last 25 years Winning Moves UK has produced official versions of MONOPOLY .. from Dubai to Dublin and Palm Springs to Sydney. Now the MONOPOLY dice are rolling on Warrington.

The board will be released this October, in time for Christmas (2022).
