VIDEO: FIREFIGHTERS helped rescue a seagull trapped in a fishing line suspended from a power line over a reservoir in Warrington earlier today, Monday.

Shortly after midday, one fire engine and the rope rescue unit from Lymm were called to Appleton Reservoir on Park Lane, Higher Walton, following reports of a seagull snagged by a fishing line that caught onto a high voltage power line above the reservoir.

Working alongside an RSPCA officer and the electricity supply company, who turned off the power supply to enable the rescue, firefighters were able to release the trapped seagull using an inflatable pathway.
