Police make direct appeal to people who attended Warrington car meet tragedy

UPDATED: POLICE investigating the Warrington car meet tragedy which resulted in the death of 20-year-old Sam Harding have issued a direct appeal to people who were present at the event.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone with any information that may aid their investigation, especially from those who attended the event.

Sergeant Simon Degg, from the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit said: “Sam’s family are absolutely devastated by his death and we are committed to doing everything we can to establish exactly what took place.

“As part our investigation I want to appeal directly to anyone who was present at the car meet and witnessed the collision, or saw the Audi prior to the incident, to get in touch.

“I’m also want to hear from anyone with any video footage from the event – both of the collision itself and before the incident.

“Out of respect for Sam’s family, I would also urge anyone with any video footage of the incident not to share them with anyone else, but to please send the footage to us.”

The incident took place at a “car meet” at Kingsland Grange, Woolston, at 9.40 pm on Sunday.

A collision occurred between a black Audi S3 and pedestrian Sam Harding, aged 20, from Stockport.

The car driver, a 21-year-old from Leeds, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but was subsequently freed on bail.

But officers are still anxious to speak to witnesses who may be able to help with their investigations.
