Fire crews called out twice to tackle arson incidents at Westy and Orford

FIRE crews were called out twice last night to tackle arson incidents involving bins at Westy and a container at Orford.

At 9:45 pm one crew from Warrington was called to Whitley Avenue, Warrington, where firefighters used a water backpack to put out a fire in a bin, set alight deliberately.

Attempts had been made to set other waste bins on fire in the vicinity. Anyone with information should call Cheshire Police on 101.

Earlier in the evening, shortly before 9:15 pm one crew from Warrington was called to a report of a fire in Grasmere Avenue, Warrington.

Firefighters used a hose reel water jet to extinguish a large amount of wood on fire in a metal container.

Police were informed owing to the fire being started deliberately. Anyone with information should call 101.
