SINCE reopening to visitors in February, the RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre has welcomed a host of new and old faces alike through its doors.

The renovations, refurbishments and construction of new exhibits, that the team undertook over the winter break, are now fully completed.

The generous stream of donations that they continue to receive, ensures that they will have plenty to keep them busy in the coming months, as they look to incorporate these into existing displays.

Over recent weeks, violunteers have been able to add an aircraft tug, military uniforms, Berlin airlift memorabilia and vintage cameras into their collection and it’s rewarding to know that they are being thought of by so many who are looking to re-home their items and ensure that the histories and stories attached to them are kept alive.

External talks to various groups have been particularly popular through the opening months of 2022, many more booked in throughout the rest of the year.

Many of these talks lead to reciprocal group visits to the Heritage Centre, enabling them to further expand public knowledge of RAF Burtonwood and the wider role that Warrington played during WWII and in the decades that followed.

Anyone interested in organising a talk, or with items that they would like to donate, can contact via email, at: [email protected]

The Heritage Centre is now open to the general public, Wednesday – Sunday from 14:30 – 17:00.

They hope to see you soon.
