Marketing student receives scholarship for work placement achievements and secures dream career

A marketing student who impressed her work placement bosses in Warrington so much, that they’ve already offered her a full-time role, has been rewarded with a scholarship and dream career. 

Third-year Marketing with Digital Communications student Anna Bolger, has received a £1,000 On-Course Excellence Scholarship after being nominated by her tutor and work-related learning coordinator at Edge Hill University. 

It recognises Anna’s personal development and the role she’s playing in the growth of Morgan Branding – a digital agency in Warrington that works for both big names and start-ups. 

Following a three-month placement at the beginning of 2021, Anna has been working part-time for the agency alongside her studies. She will take up a full-time position when she graduates in May. 

She said: “Edge Hill’s employability module has been key to securing my future. Without it, I wouldn’t have had the chance to learn on the job at such a great company. It’s encouraged me to reflect on what I’ve learned and think about how I can improve. It’s given me confidence and strengthened my desire to succeed.” 

Her love of Instagram and Tik Tok, and her creativity in using the channels, has improved and expanded Morgan Branding’s own social media reach and engagement. Its Tik Tok account now has over 17,000 followers. 

Her work also means that Morgan Branding can now offer bespoke Tik Tok services, with around 25 clients already on their books for this service alone.

On-Course Excellence Scholarships are awarded to students that are proud of something they have achieved and can demonstrate determination, commitment and achievement outside their studies.

Edge Hill’s BSc (Hons) Marketing with Digital Communications develops students’ expertise in digital marketing, branding and consumer behaviour. It gets them ready for a career in the industry, even setting up and running their own company. 

The Year 2 employability module is designed to enhance students’ understanding, skill-base and personal development. It also familiarises them with the business environment.
