Police tackle anti-social behaviour at Padgate as youngsters caught smoking drugs under subway

POLICE have been receiving increasing reports of anti-social behaviour involving young people in the Padgate area of Warrington, causing distress to local residents, including the elderly.

Officers were recently deployed to the Station Road subway where a group of youths had been smoking cannabis under the subway. On arrival, the group chose to run off.

After some perseverance, police caught up with the group on Longbarn Park and they were returned home following a discussion with parents.

Over the last few weeks police have received an increasing number of reports involving youth Anti-social behaviour.

This is causing undue distress to several people including the elderly and needs to stop now!

Police are reminding youngsters that the criminal age of responsibility is 10-years-old.

They are also asking parents/guardians to know and check where their children are at all times and are warning this behaviour will not be tolerated.

Issues in the area can be reported via 101 or in an emergency 999.

Similar issues were reported in the Padgate and Hulme area of town earlier this week.

Anti-social behaviour is creeping in the wrong direction and unless the Police, supported by the courts, do something about it now it will get out of hand and beyond their resources to deal with it. Prosecutions and suitably deterrent punishment needs to be happening now, before it’s too late and ruins young lives and damages society.
