Police appeal to trace woman following theft of purse from elderly victim

POLICE have issued a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to following the theft of a purse from an elderly woman in Warrington town centre.

The incident happened shortly after 1pm on Tuesday 1 March 2022 when an elderly woman had her purse, stolen while out in Warrington town centre.

The purse contained a bank card and cash and was used to make withdrawals of approximately £300. There were also other attempts to purchase train tickets at Warrington Bank Quay station.

PC Graham Davies, of Warrington Beat Team, said: “We have started following numerous enquiries and are appealing to the public for information.

“If you recognise the woman in the photo please do contact us. I would also like to appeal directly to the woman in the CCTV image to get in touch as she could have information that would assist with our investigation.”
