COVID-19 cases continue to rise with 275 new cases confirmed

COVID-19 infection rates are continuing to rise in Warrington with another 275 cases confirmed in the latest data.

Meanwhile, inpatient numbers at Warrington Hospital have risen slightly from 71-72 while nine more patients have been discharged.

Current inpatients as of Friday, March 18, 2022 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 72 (71) including 0 (0) in ICU.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 585 – 279.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 243.6
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 655 – 312.8 per 100,000.

*There have been 1,753 (1,665) new COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington over the past seven days, including another 275 since yesterday, taking the total to 70,377 (70,098) and an infection rate of 657.6 (602.2) per 100,000 which has risen again, with the national rate at 724.3 (684.6), which has also risen again.

  1. It’s a worrying trend and, with case numbers rising rapidly, hospital admissions remaining fairly stable, and deaths very low, it would appear that complacency has taken a firm hold. It would be good to know if further vaccination boosters are planned across the board or on an annual basis.
